Making the Transition from Chemistry to Chemical Engineering
Danielle Lucey, MS’26, chemical engineering, wanted to make the switch from chemistry to chemical engineering to broaden her knowledge and career opportunities. Lucey is now applying all of the skills she has learned from the classroom and co-op to start her intensive thesis research on carbon dioxide hydrogenation.

Building Versatile Skills in Pharmaceutical Engineering
Tanvi Mahesh Khanvilkar, MS’25, pharmaceutical engineering, came to Northeastern for her master’s degree as an international student with no prior experience in engineering. She wanted to expand on her existing skills and knowledge in the pharmaceutical industry to give back to society. Through her commitment to learning and strong work ethic, Khanvilkar has built the foundation for a long, successful career.

PhD Spotlight: Justin Hayes, PhD’25, Chemical Engineering
Justin Hayes, PhD’25, chemical engineering, focuses on understanding how gut microbial metabolism impacts human health. He is an inventor on the pending patent and founder and CEO of Concordance Therapeutics Inc. He was awarded the Northeastern University chapter of the National Academy of Inventors Student Innovation Impact Award.

ChE PhD Student Featured as BPS Spotlight Student
Natesan Mani, PhD’26, chemical engineering, who works in ChE/COS Assistant Professor Srirupa Chakraborty’s lab, received a travel award to attend the Biophysical Society 2025 Annual Meeting where he presented a talk and poster. The organization also featured Mani in a student spotlight on its website.
