ChE Student Receives 2025 Condit Award

Dhwani Bhatt, E’27, chemical engineering, won the Sears B. Condit Award, which is awarded annually to one student from each of Northeastern’s undergraduate day colleges and is one of the highest honors that a junior or senior at Northeastern University can receive.
Dhwani Bhatt is a third-year chemical engineering major with a goal to address environmental and social challenges through engineering solutions. Growing up in Uganda, she saw firsthand the impacts of water scarcity and lack of clean energy, which inspired her passion to address these challenges. Dhwani gained hands-on experience through participating in a project that developed biogas systems for waste-to-energy conversion in rural schools. She acquired technical research experience in the fields of electrochemical carbon capture and mining waste-water electroremediation through a research fellowship at Barecka Lab and a co-op at SiTration, an MIT spinout. Through her leadership as the president of the Engineers Without Borders Northeastern chapter, she leads global initiatives to improve water access in Panama and Uganda.
