Professor Zhiyong Gu is the Chair and Professor in the Francis College of Engineering at UMass Lowell. His research group focuses on the synthesis and fabrication of functional and hybrid nanowires and nanoparticles. Using self-assembly and directed assembly techniques, they integrate these nano–building blocks into ordered 2D and 3D hierarchical structures. Their work advances applications in sensing, electronics, and biomedicine.
